FREE GLASS RECYCLE - City of Ames Resource Recovery Plant has FREE GLASS RECYCLING for people to keep glass out of their garbage. The glass does not have to be sorted according to color. Please rinse the glass containers out, you may leave label on. They have FREE DROP OFF sites with YELLOW 2Y containers at the following locations:

Yard Waste Yard Waste and Brush service is offered every Wednesday morning EARLY. (holiday schedule will be delay by 1 day) • Call our office 515-382-3808 NO LATER than Tuesday by 4 p.m. SET YARD WASTE AT THE CURB ONLY! • What is yard waste? Lawn clippings, outside flowers, garden plants, bushes, trees (not lumber), dirt, sod and leaves. • To get the yard waste stickers, leave your check in envelope and tape it on top of your trash can securely. On top the envelope, tell the driver how many yard waste stickers and where to place them so you'll be able to locate them. (we can not place yard waste stickers in the mail box - Federal Law) • The following are Do's & Don'ts for yard waste:

Extra Charges • Furniture (pricing varies): Carpet, bed, recliner, chair, sofa (couches, hide-a-bed, love seats), dresser, desk, table, shelving, etc .... • All Appliances $35 each: dishwasher, stove, refrigerator, freezer, microwave, washer, dryer, dehumidifier, hot water heaters, water softeners, etc ...
• TV -
Residential customers - 27" or smaller $5.00 each Or
28" or bigger call for pricing. Commercial
customers
• Miscellaneous Items: car & light truck tires $5 each / on rim $10 each. Bigger tires call for price. • Free pick up: car battery and oil. ONE BATTERY & ONE GALLON of OIL free per visit. If you set out more then one it will be left for the next time. • Safely dispose of unusable water-based (latex) paint - Completely dried and hardened paint can be put in the trash. Leave lids off cans so workers will know the paint is dried out. Larger quantities mix shredded newspapers or kitty litter to make it in a solid form. For lead-based paint, oil-based paint and other paint products, contact the Regional Collection Center at 1-888-603-CREW for disposal assistance.
